Edmonton, Canada (08/08/01) - Kenya's Charles Kamathi takes the Gold in the 10,000 and upset's Haile Gebrselassie. Kamathi finishes first with a time of 27:53.25, followed by Ethiopia's Assefa Mezgebu in 27:53.97, and Gebrselassie settles for the bronze in 27:54.41. Alan Culpepper is the top American in 18th place with a time of 28:18.44.

Kenya also takes the Gold in the 3,000 Steeple Chase. Reuben Kosgei wins in 8:15.16, followed by Morocco's Ali Ezzine in 8:16.21, and then Bernard Barmasai of Kenay in 8:16.59.
