Edmonton, Canada (08/05/01) - Wow, another exciting day here in Edmonton. Yesterday's fast times by the Americans provided the setting for today's final. The USA swept the final with Maurice Green taking the Gold in 9.82, Montgomery the Silver in 9.85, and Williams the Bronze in 9.94. The USA's Shelia Burrell takes home a bronze in the Heptathlon with a total 6472 points, while Russia's Yelena Prokhorova takes the Gold with 6694. In the 1500 Meter, Sarah Schwald fails to move onto the next round, running 4:11.74. Gabriela Szabo runs 4:07.40 for the fastest time of the day and Suzy Favor-Hamilton drops out of her heat. In the women's 100 meter, Marion Jones, Chryste Gaines, Angela Williams, and Keli White all advance to the Semis. Marion runs 10.93 for the fast time of the day. Brenda Taylor, Sandra Glover, and Tonja Buford-Bailey all advance in the 400M Hurdles. Demetria Washington, Michelle Collins, and Monique Hennagen advance in the 400 Meters.
