Day 2

Edmonton, Canada (08/04/01) - On the second day of competion the USA takes the gold and silver in the shot put. John Godina throws 21.87 meters and Nelson Adam throws 21.24. The USA looks to take more medals in the 100 meters. Maurice Green, Tim Montgomery, and Bernard Williams post the three fastest times of the day and advance into the semi-fianls. Green 9.88, Montgomery 9.92 and Williams 9.95. In the womens 1500 meters Suzy Favor-Hamilton runs 4:08.89 and Sarah Schwald runs 4:13.69 for the USA to advance into the semis. In the 800 meters the USA's David Krummenacker advances, while Nathan Brannen the soon to be University of Michigan freshmen fails to advance. In the 20K Walk the Russians sweep, Roman Rasskazon wins in 1:20:31, followed by Markov (1:20:33), and Burayev (1:20:36).
