BOYLAN-PETT TAKES
INDIVIDUAL TITLE

EAST JORDAN WINS 2ND STATE TITLE IN 3 YEARS

Jackson, MI 11/4/00

by Scott Collins &
Dave McCauley, rmdc

A powerful finishing kick helped Bath High School senior Will Boylan-Pett to a narrow one second victory over Andrew Deumling of Ubly. Boylan-Pett finished in 15:42.2 to Deumling's 15:43.2.

Although not the fastest finish on the day, it was definitely one of the most exciting. For Boylan-Pett, the victory felt good and very rewarding. He commented on his finish to RMDC's Scott Collins after the race.

"I just thought it's my senior year and I don't care if I hurt now. It's going to feel better when I cross the line. I knew I had to go for it."

"I'm really happy. There aren't words to explain it. This is what I wanted to do all year. I trained for this for four years, to win a state championship and it came true. I coulnd't be happier. "

In the team competion, for the second time in three years, the boys team from East Jordan High School took home a state Championship. East Jordan placed three runners in the top 20, lead by Tarn Leach who finished 6th.

East Jordan capped off another unbelieable year with the victory.
