EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team was represented by two athletes at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Thursday (June 28) at Oregon's Hayward Field. At the Canadian Olympic Trials, former Wolverine Nate Brannen (2002-05) qualified for the 1,500-meter finals at Foothills Athletic Park in Calgary, Canada.

Brannen clocked a time of 3:50.37 to place sixth and will now compete in the finals on Friday (June 29) at 2:30 p.m. MDT.

In his first trip to the U.S. Olympic Trials, recent Michigan graduate Craig Forys (Howell, N.J./Colts Neck) finished 13th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase finals in a time of 8:46.81.

U-M sophomore Ali Arastu (Northville, Mich./Northville) finished fifth in his heat and 23rd overall in the qualifying round of the 400-meter hurdles. In his first Olympic Trial appearance, the All-America second teamer clocked a time of 52.12. Arastu will continue his summer competition as one of two 400-meter hurdlers representing Team USA at the North American, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) U-23 Championships. The event will run from July 6-8 in Guanajuato, Mexico.

Former Wolverine Jeff Porter (2004-07) will compete in the 110-meter hurdle qualifying round on Friday (June 29), with the semifinals and finals being held on Saturday (June 29).
