Oakland University Men and Women Finish Eighth at Summit League Championships Comments Views- 837

FARGO, N.D. - Serena San Cartier broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles and the men's 4x100-meter relay team set the school record as the Oakland men's and women's track and field teams both finished eighth at The Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Ellig Sports Complex on Saturday.
"We had some more great things happen today," said head coach Paul Rice. "A big highlight was watching Serena (San Cartier) break the school record for the second day in a row in the hurdles. The men's 4x100 also set a new school record which was great to see."
San Cartier finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles by breaking her own school record with a time of 14.42. The team of Darin Lawrence, Kyle Wilson, Derrek Williams and Niklas Rippon broke the school record in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 42.73.
The men's team finished in seventh place with 21 points as North Dakota State won with 216 points followed by South Dakota with 133.5 points. The women's team finished eighth with 28.5 points as North Dakota State won with 193 points followed South Dakota with 164 points.
Wilson earned a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.36 and Rippon finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.94. The 4x400-meter relay team of Jason Dixon, Anthony Sterzick, Williams, and Marcus Travis finished eighth with a time of 3:27.58.
"It was a thrill watching Kyle (Wilson) race so well in the final race of his great career in the 400-meter final race of his career," added Rice.
Micah Jones followed her win in the long jump with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a final mark of 38 feet, 5.5 inches. The 4x100-meter relay team of Shaunte Roberts, San Cartier, Meaghan Ogonowski and Jones finished eighth with a time of 48.18. The 4x400-meter relay team of Ogonowski, Autumn Cleverley, San Cartier and Roberts earned an eighth-place finish with a time of 4:06.68.
"The championships are also a celebration for all of our seniors," said Rice. "This senior class has done incredible things, and I want to wish them the best of luck. We can take a lot of good things from this season as we begin taking a look at our plans for next year."
This was the final meet for Oakland men's and women's track and field teams this season.
