HANSONS-BROOKS ATHLETES FINISH 8-9-10 AT STEAMBOAT CLASSIC


PEORIA, ILL. – Patrick Rizzo, Luke Humphrey and Ryan Sheehan finished an impressive 8th, 9th and 10th place respectively Saturday morning at the Steamboat Classic in Peoria, Ill. The three Hansons athletes were separated by a mere two seconds. Both Rizzo and Humphrey crossed the line in 19 minutes and five seconds, while Sheehan finished in 19:07.

More than 3500 competitors competed in this year's addition of the Steamboat Classic, which is touted as the world’s fastest 4-mile race. As that title suggests, the race attracts a field of competitive professional athletes from around the world each year. The top athletes competed for the men’s and women’s individual titles, as well as more than $25,000 in prize money. The race also includes a 15k road-race.

This year’s overall winner was for the men was Ridouane Harroufi of Morocco, in a time of 17:44. While Kim Smith, of New Zealand, ran away from the women’s field in a time of 19:34. to win the women’s race.
