1999 NEWS HERALD CHAMPS AT GROSSE ILE HIGH SCHOOL Romulus dominated the men's meet Woodhaven women win their first crown unseating Grosse Ile GROSSE ILE, MI 5/15/99 Anyone who was outside on Saturday knew it was a great day for a track & field meet. Fred Russell was conspicuous by his absence. Lots of rumors as to why, but no confirmation. Romulus didn't miss him as they dominated the men's meet from the beginning, winning their fourth title in 6 years (it would have been 5, but their AD scheduled them to go to a different meet last year). The Woodhaven women won their first crown unseating Grosse Ile, who had won the previous four.
