TCC Jamboree #2

The Morenci High School boys cross country team placed second with 90 points behind Whitmore Lake (22) in a competition that featured several local teams.

Morenci was followed by Sand Creek (90), Madison (108) and Clinton (138). Whitmore Lake’s Zach Carpenter was the individual winner with a time of 16:46. Zach Phillips of Morenci took second and crossed the finish line at 16:58.

Morenci runners finished both 12th and 14th. Jeffrey Nofziger had the 12th-place finish in 18:57 and Micah Gillen was 14th in a time of 19:00. The Bulldogs were also led by David Brown’s 20th-place (20:20) finish and Logan Drummond’s 22:00 run for 27th place.

Kenny Cooper of Clinton finished fifth in 17:47. Clinton’s next finisher was Tim Smith’s 21:57 run for 31st place. Other Clinton runners included Connor Koester who placed 31st in a time of 21:57. Redskins following Koester were Steve Kurowicki in 42nd (23:06) and Jacob Saren in 51st (24:19).

Sand Creek’s A.J. Constable took 11th and finished in 18:46. Sand Creek’s next finisher was Dylan Russell in 15th place with a time of 19:10. Rounding out the scoring for Sand Creek were Adam Bauer 20:15 in 22nd, Matt Marine 20:59 in 26th and Nick Howard 21:42 in 29th place.
Madison’s Aaron Mountain and Corey Weitenhagen took 16th (19:31) and 17th (19:40) place.

Britton-Deerfield’s Rachel Smith took first overall in the girls meet with her 21:01 run. Britton-Deerfield’s other top runners were Paige Goll who took 10th place with a time of 23:55, Lezlee Downing in 41st (30:23), Lexie Forche 43rd (31:25) and Amber Stoner 44th (33:54).

The Whitmore Lake team took first in the girls meet with 31 points. Sand Creek placed second with 65 points and was followed by Clinton (76), Whiteford (87), Britton-Deerfield (122), Morenci (135) and Madison (207).

Sand Creek’s top runners placed third and fourth. Melanie Glinski was third in a time of 21:50 and Olivia Jewett finished fourth in 22:28. Also leading the Aggies was Maria Galnares 25:21 in 17th place. Hallie Roof 25:26 and Holly Zilke 25:58 in 18th and 23rd, respectively.

Kelsey Karapas was Clinton’s top runner. Karapas crossed the finish line at 23:52. Kaleah Nelson was the second-best Clinton runner with her time of 24:14 that earned her 12th place. Also finishing for the Redskins were Megan Caroen in 14th place (24:55), Maggie Michalak 15th (24:56) and Samantha Kersey 27th (26:25).

Candi Evers clocked the quickest time for Morenci with a 24:51 run and took 20th place. Other Bulldog leaders were Kate Gallup in 24th (26:05), Jackie Paris 25th (26:16), Rachel Sodergren 27th (26:53) and Ashley Clark 29th (34:34).

Madison’s top finisher was Khrystyne Dewey. Dewey’s 29:15 run earned her 37th place.

Blissfield, Tecumseh at Dundee Beck Invitational: The Tecumseh girls cross country team took first in both team and individual competition. The Indians finished with 47 points, beating both St. Marys Catholic Central (54) and Blissfield (78).

Jordan Harrison came away with the individual win with her time of 20:15. Tecumseh’s Grace Kelley finished sixth with a time of 21:54. Ellie Jacques finished ninth for the Indians in 22:07.

Katelyn Staelgraeve and Erin Landstrum also had top Tecumseh finishes. Staelgraeve’s 22:09 time earned her 11th place and Landstrum’s 23:42 finish put her in 25th.

Blissfield’s strongest runner was Brittany Holdridge who finished eighth with a time of 22:03. Amanda Dheel had the next best Royal finish in 18th place with her 22:56 run.

Lauren Yates finished 20th in 23:17, Sierra DeGroff placed 22nd in 23:26 and Haley Neri came in at 23:33 for a 23rd-place finish.

Justin Bateson of Blissfield was the individual winner at the boys cross country invitational with a time of 17:04. Tecumseh’s Leon Miller came in second with a time of 17:43.
St. Mary’s Catholic Central won the invitational with 36 points, Tecumseh placed third, and Blissfield finished fifth out of seven teams.

Tecumseh’s next best time was run by Josh Short who finished sixth with his 17:56 run. Matt Roberts paced 18th in a time of 19:01. Calvin Heim crossed the finsih line shortly after at 19:04 and placed 20th. Austin See also ran for the Indians and finished 21st in a time of 19:06.

Jimmy Kimmelman was the Royals’ second fastest runner. Kimmelman crossed the finish line 32nd in 19:37. David Dheel had the next best time for Blissfield, clocking in at 19:44 for a 34th place finish. Other top Royal runners were Ryan Forche in 36th wtih a time of 19:57 and Dylan Kniernim in 46th with a time of 20:57.
