This Saturday May 03, 10 am in Royal Oak, the 3rd annual Mind Over Matter (MOM) Charity 5K Run/Walk. The MOM race will start on the south side of Starr Jaycee Park and run through residential neighborhoods between Crooks Road & Main Street and 12 & 13 Mile Roads. The event is held in memory of Gail Boledovich with proceeds going to The University of Michigan Depression Center and Michigan chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). May 4, 11:30 am in Detroit: Cinco De Mayo Parade Mexican Town Fun Run, 8km and 1 mile. The race is followed by a Mexican patriotic parade at noon. Runners are shuttled to the race start at Patton Park and finish at Clark Park (Parade route) with a festival hosted by the Mexican Patriotic Committee. A chorizo breakfast will be waiting at the finish line. Stay for the festival - food, live music, dance shows, arts & crafts, children's games, low-riders car exhibition and wrestling event. May 4, 8:30 am, Ann Arbor: 29th annual Burns Park Run, 5 / 10km run, 5km walk, ½ mile run. The course loops through a beautiful old neighborhood east of U of M’s campus. The race is organized as a fundraiser for over twenty charities and the elementary school PTO. This year’s guest celebrity is Olympian Sheila Taormina. The post-race brunch includes fresh Zingerman's bagels with cream cheese; hot Caribou coffee, homemade muffins and other goodies. May 18, 8:30 am, West Bloomfield: Rock and Road 5 /10 km run and kids run at the Civic Center complex on Walnut Lake Road. The Parks and Recreation Department organizes the challenging 10km course takes you through scenic neighborhoods, the WB Woods Nature preserve and some of the beautiful trails of West Bloomfield. May 26, 8:30 am, Grosse Isle Memorial Day Run 5 / 8 km, 1 mile kids run. Everal Race Management has had hand in the success of many races in the downriver area. This event is no exception. It has seen steady growth over the last five years. The new course is designed to show off beautifully landscaped streets and summer homes of prominent locals and completes its route on the high school track.
