Brian Diemer 5K

Excellent weather & a strong competitive field highlighted this year's Brian Diemer 5K. Anthony Hamm lead a group of about 8 men through the mile in right around 4:25. Just before the 2 mile, Hamm and Paul Aufdemberge made a slight break. Hamm and Aufdemberge traded the lead until Aufdemberge put the hammer down with about a quarter mile to go.
In the women's race, Laurel Park and Jennifer Goodpaster went through the mile in 4:58, with Kim Bruce close behind. Just beyond the mile, Park threw in a surge to pull away from Goodpaster, who later faded to 4th. Park continued on for the victory in 16:58, with Kim Bruce finishing a strong second in 17:10. Terry Mahr of Oregon, Ohio, ran a terrific 17:54 to take the master's title.
