Hope - Justin Freeman Races to 100-Meter School Record at Al Owens Classic

Hope College's Justin Freeman blazed to a school record in the 100-meter dash Saturday at Grand Valley State University's Al Owens Invitational.
The junior from Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) clocked a winning time of 10.69 seconds to top a field of 47 runners.
Freeman, pictured, surpassed the old mark of 10.74 seconds held by Greg Clark since 1993.
The Flying Dutchmen finished fourth out of 19 college teams with 58 points.
Freeman also anchored the second-place 4x100 relay with sophomore Korey Derr of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Northview), sophomore Emmanuel Harinda of Holland, Michigan (Holland) and sophomore Adam Howard of Jacksonville, Illinois (Routt Catholic).
Hope was runner-up in the 4x400 relay. Freshman Terrell Solberg of Traverse City, Michigan (Central), senior Brandon Wolliston of Remus, Michigan (Chippewa Hills), junior Collin Thomas of Novi, Michigan (Novi), and senior Matt Ruff of Wayne, Illinois (Wheaton Academy) posted a run of 3:18.59.
Wolliston placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 48.70 seconds.
Senior Benjamin Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Prospect) came in fourth in the 1,500 at 3:55.25.
Three Flying Dutchmen scored in the high jump: sophomore Joshua Izenbart of Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor) in fourth at 1.95 meters (6-4 ¾), freshman Jared Lowe of Cincinnati, Ohio (Wyoming) in sixth at 1.85 meters (6-0 ¼), and sophomore Brandon Maurice of Howell, N.J. (Howell) in sixth at 1.85 meters (6-0 ¼).
Izenbart also took sixth in the 110 hurdles at 15.95 seconds and the javelin with a toss of 45.05 meters.
Two Hope triple jumpers scored: junior Louis Kopp of Spring, Texas (Providence Classical) in seventh at 12.40 meters (40-8 ¼) and Tucker Gibbons of Fowlerville, Michigan (Fowlerville) in eighth at 12.35 meters (40-6 ¼).
