Hope - Outdoor Men's Track & Field Wins Seven Events In Meet vs. Alma, Calvin

High jumper Brandon Maurice led a sweep for the Hope College men's track & field team in nonleague competition against Alma and host Calvin on Thursday.
The Flying Dutchmen finished second with 68 points — two fewer than Calvin. Alma was third with 16 points.
Maurice, pictured, went 1.85 meters to finish first. Freshman Ethan Larson of Glen Ellyn, Illinois (Glenbard West) placed second at 1.80 meters. Senior William Henkel of Lambertville, Michigan (Erie-Mason) and freshman Jared Lowe of Cincinnati, Ohio (Wyoming) tied for third at 1.75 meters.
Junior Justin Freeman of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) won the 100 meters in 11.01 seconds. Sophomore Adam Howard of Jacksonville, Illinois (Routt Catholic) was runner-up at 11.26 seconds.
Howard and Freeman teamed with sophomores Korey Derr of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Northview) and Emmanuel Harinda of Holland, Michigan (Holland) for a victorious 4x100 relay of 42.15 seconds.
Howard also took second in the 200 meters.
Senior Brandon Wolliston of Remus, Michigan (Chippewa Hills) came in first with a time of 22.43 seconds. Howard finished in 22.63.
Wollison partnered with freshman Terrell Solberg of Traverse City, Michigan (Central), sophomore Joshua Izenbart of Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor), and senior Matt Tuff of Wayne, Illinois (Wheaton Academy) for a first-place 4x400 relay of 3:26.64.
Senior Benjamin Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Mount Prospect) ran a winning 1,500-meter time of 4:00.57.
Izenbart won the javelin with a toss of 49.60 meters.
