WMU - Track and Field Takes Eighth at the Indoor MAC Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Western Michigan track and field team wrapped up the indoor season, finishing in eighth place at the 2018 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship at Bowling Green on Saturday.
The Broncos finished with 42 points, just 13 shy of finishing in the top five. Eastern Michigan claimed the MAC Championship after scoring 154 points.
Sophomores Sarah Anderson and Madison Meredith each scored in two events on the day. Anderson took seventh overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.92. She also finished in fifth in the mile run with a time of 5:00.35. The Broncos had two scorers in the mile, with senior Claire Gilbert claiming the final points spot in eighth place after a time of 5:00.75.
Meredith took sixth in the 60-meter dash after running a time of 7.61 seconds and then took sixth again in the 200-meter dash after running a time of 24.83 seconds.
Sophomore Erin Dowd scored for the first time in her career after taking seventh place in the 400-meter dash. Dowd ran a time of 57.17 seconds to earn two points on the day.
Another athlete scoring for the first time in her career was senior thrower Savannah Dugan. Dugan finished in eighth place in the shot put, throwing 45' 10" (13.97 meters) to score one point for the Broncos.
Junior Kaydon Fosler was another Bronco to score for the first time in her career. Fosler tied for sixth place in the high jump, scoring two points after reaching a height of 5' 5.75" (1.67 meters).
Western Michigan ended the meet taking eighth in the 4x400-meter relay. Ashley Worford, Davonne Bolden, Dowd and Gabby Collins combined to run a time of 5:53.63.
