DU - Panthers compete in final meet before the GLIAC Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Davenport competed in their eighth meet of the 2017-18 indoor season and used the meet to make some final adjustments before the GLIAC Championships. The Panthers took part in the Grand Valley State-Tune Up on Friday, this is the fifth time this season that DU has traveled to compete in a meet hosted by the Lakers. The GLIAC Championships will happen on February 24 and 25 in Allendale.
Alexander Lake continues to improve upon his weight throw throughout this indoor season. As a result of all his hard work he broke the school record in the event, throwing a monster toss of 20.34m. This is the first time in his career that Lake has surpassed the 20m mark in the weight throw during a meet. He moved up in the national rankings and currently sits at eighth in the country for the event.
In the 60-meter dash Jakara Edwards-House took second place with a time of 7.86 seconds. Lexie Mayer ran the 200-meter dash in 26.42 seconds, finishing fourth in the event. Her time of 26.42 seconds is only .21 seconds behind the school record. Olivia Bordewyk snagged first place in the 800-meter run. She ran the distance in 2:20.66. On the men's side, Jordan Stanford ran a personal best in the 200-meter dash. He finished in 22.38 seconds and took first place in the event. Matthew Field came so close to breaking the school record in the 800-meter run. Field took seventh place in the event with a time of 1:57.59, only .19 seconds away from Zach Robinson's record.
The GLIAC Championships are next and are scheduled for this upcoming Saturday and Sunday.
