The #9 Aquinas women's indoor track and field team posted a fourth-place finish at Grand Valley State's Mike Lints Alumni Open on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 27) in Allendale. AQ had a very nice showing and recorded several qualifying marks during its third indoor meet of the 2017-18 season.

The Saints recorded 45.50 points on Saturday, finishing fourth overall and as the highest non-NCAA program. Eastern Michigan tallied 168 points to win the event, followed by GVSU (114.60), and Hillsdale (61.20) placing third. AQ held off Lewis (42.5) and Chicago

(42.20) in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

Analis Floyd (JR/Grand Rapids, Michigan) finished as the runner-up in the 600 meter run with a provisional time of 1:37.43, less than a second out of first place. That time is the third-fastest in AQ history. Taylor Ward (JR/Hastings, MI) also scored in the event with an eighth-place time of 1:41.76.

In the 800 meter run, Adri Sigafoose (SR/McBain, Michigan) placed third overall with a time of 2:11.08, finishing only behind a pair of runners from Eastern Michigan – and less than 0.2 seconds out of first place. That is an automatic qualifier for Sigafoose in the event.

Tyra Hunter (SO/Flint, Michigan) recorded a fourth-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.02 seconds, while Amore Brown (JR/Flint, Michigan) also scored with a time of 9.37 seconds in eighth place.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Floyd, Jordan Goodman (FR/Fountain, Michigan), Sigafoose and Courtney Truss (SR/Traverse City, Michigan) took third place in the event with an automatic qualifying time of 3:54.85. Truss did not score in the 200 meter dash, but her time of 25.33 seconds is a provisional qualifying result and is the third-fastest time in program history.

AQ had four of the top-11 finishers in the high jump, as Yara Marie Hugo (FR/Aschaffenburg, Germany) tied for second place at 1.57m, with Skye Morgan (JR/Grand Rapids, Michigan) tying for fourth place with the same 1.57m height. Hugo cleared the height on her first attempt, while Morgan did so on her second try, thus the place difference.

Hugo also placed fourth in the long jump at 5.29m, doing so on her final try of the event. Grace Meachum (JR/Traverse City, Michigan) was seventh in the event at 5.07m, which she accomplished on two of her final three tries.

In the mile run, Janie Noah (SO/Middleville, Michigan) finished 17th, but her time of 5:06.79 is a provisional qualifier.

Aquinas returns to its home course next Friday (Feb. 2) for the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic. The meet will begin in the Alksnis Athletics & Recreation Building at 5:00 p.m.
