Calvin - Women’s Track & Field Places 13th at GVSU Mike Lints

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Calvin women's track & field team competed in a field of NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NAIA competition on Saturday at the Grand Valley State University Mike Lints Alumni Meet. The Knights finished in 13th place with six points.
"We really had some solid performances today," said head coach Bret Otte. "I was really impressed with some of our performances today. I am excited to build off today and head into next week."
Senior Maggie LaLonde (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) was the fastest Knight in the 400-meter dash at 1:05.66.
In the 800-meter run, sophomore Margaret VanWylen (Vincennes, Ind./South Knox) placed 28th at 2:33.35.
Junior Katie Diekema (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor) placed 10th in the 1-mile run at 4:55.52. The third-fastest time in NCAA Division III.
Freshman Annie Needs (Peru, Ill./Saint Bede Academy) clocked at 11:14.48 in 38th place in the 3000-meter run.
In the 5000-meter run, sophomore Jena Gaffner (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian) placed 32nd at 21:01.13.
The highest Calvin-finish of the day came from senior Jenna Dyksen (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) in the 60-meter hurdle. Dyksen crossed the finish line at 8.94 to take third place. The time is the fifth-fastest in NCAA Division III.
The pole vault saw junior Annalane Miller (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) finish in 23rd place at 8-11 ¾.
The Knights return to action on Friday at the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic at Aquinas.
