GVSU - Lakers Finish GVSU Lints Alumni Meet

The Grand Valley State track & field teams hosted the GVSU Lints Alumni Meet on Saturday (Jan. 27) and captured a pair victories as the men scored 167.5 points en route to the win, while the women were the top Division II team and won with 114.6 points. The Lakers will be on the road next week, as they travel to Notre Dame and Hillsdale for a pair of weekend events.
The GVSU men hit five provisional marks in the meet from Tyler Kirkwood and Joe Renner in the track events, while Hunter Weeks and Justin Scavarda hit marks in their field events and the 4x400m relay team also hit a provisional mark as well. Kirkwood hit a time of 8.20 in the 60m hurdles, along with second place finish, while Renner finished first in the mile with a time of 4:11.19. In the field events, Weeks tabbed a first place finish in the high jump after he hit a jump of 2.06m. In addition, Scavarda hit two provisional marks in the shot put with a throw of 16.68 meters en route to first place finish. In the weight throw, he went 18.13 meters along a second place finish. Also, Thomas Capers, Andrew McFarland, Tyler Pavligaand Jaylin Golson were all part of the 4x400m relay team that hit a provisional mark of 3:17.09.
The GVSU women had 14 provisional marks during the meet. In the track events, Angela Ritter hit two individual marks and one relay mark for the Lakers. Ritter hit a mark of 7.63 in the 60m dash as she finished first, and another mark in the 200m dash after she ran a time of 24.76 and a fourth place finish. Willow Stuedemann hit a mark of 7.66 in the 60m dash while finishing third. In the mile, Allie Ludge led the way for the Lakers as she was one of three who hit provisional marks. Ludge finished third with a time of 4:45.50, followed Rachael Walters with a sixth place finish and a time of 4:50.90 and Gina Patterson crossed the finish line at 4:56.06 for 11th place. GVSU had four more athletes hit provisional times in the 3,000 meter race, with Malea Teerman (9:54.16), Hanna Groeber (9:57.38), Stacey Metzger (9:57.49) and Kelly Haubert (9:57.71). The women's 4x400 relay with Ritter, Heather Johnson, Jessica Eby and Rachael Walters finished second with a time of 3:45.73.
Also, hitting provisional in the pole vault were Elli Kimes with a vault of 3.79m and a fourth place finished, followed by Lucy Buckholz for fifth and a mark of 3.64m.
