DEXTER, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team capped off its 2017 regular season Friday, Oct. 20, at the EMU Fall Classic in Dexter, Mich.

The event was used as an opportunity for many of the underclassmen to gain valuable experience at the collegiate level, as four of the six EMU harriers who competed were freshmen. Freshman Tarynn Cullings (Medina, Ohio-Medina) led the Eagles with a 13th-place finish, crossing the line in 18:40.2. Senior Lauren Pottschmidt (Granger, Ind.-Penn) also put together a strong performance, taking 20th with a time of 19:00.3.

The meet also served as an opportunity to battle against a couple Mid-American Conference foes before next weekend's conference championship race. The field of teams included MAC rivals Bowling Green and Toledo, two teams who finished within the top-five at last year's conference championship.

EMU will look to bring home its third-consecutive conference title next weekend Saturday, Oct. 28, in Oxford, Ohio. The race is slated to begin at 11 a.m., links for live results can be found on the women's cross country page on EMUEagles.com.
