"We ran well today, especially our top-three who really got the job done today," commented WMU head coach Kelly Lycan. "Our veterans did what we expected them to do, finishing in the top-twenty is really good for this tough meet. We have to do a better job of closing the time gap between our third and fourth runners moving forward."

Northern Iowa won the Women's Gold 5K with a team score of 86 while Temple, Saint Louis, Idaho State and Creighton rounded out the top-five. The Broncos finished in 10th with a team score of 253 just behind Mid-American foe Bowling Green.

Christensen finished with a personal record time of 17:12.2, finishing in the top-5 and 14 seconds behind the top-finisher in Creighton's Emily Martin. Senior Claire Gilbert, who led the team last time out at the Spartan Invitational, cracked the top-10 with a personal record time of 17:34.5 while junior captain Sarah Anderson just narrowly missed the top-10 with a personal record time of 17:38.9 finishing 13th overall. Rounding out the Broncos top-five was freshman Juliane Sormain (96th), in her first outing for the Brown & Gold this season, and sophomore Brittney Hall (147th). Other finishers in the Gold Race were sophomore Haley Ritsema (159th), freshman Rebecca McNamee (169th) and freshman Courtney Allen (181st).

In the Open 5K race, which took place before the Women's Gold 5K race, freshman Emily Fonzi led the group of Broncos with a 31st place finish of 19:38.3. Following Fonzi, was sophomore Autumn Lewis in 42nd and the close group of redshirt junior Makenzie Evers (48th), freshman Charlotte Ramser (49th), sophomore Mattie Goodwin (51st), and senior Kayla Dominguez (54th).

The Broncos will take next weekend off before heading to the Pre-National Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14 in Louisville, Ky.
