Hope - Men's track and field in top 4 in 4 events

The Hope College men's outdoor track & field team posted four top-four efforts at the Emory Classic this weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. The 21-team field included NCAA Division II & III competitors.
Senior Nicholas Salomon of Troy, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit HS) clocked a runner-up time in the 800 meters of 1 minute, 53.11 seconds. Only Tyler Barber of Truett-McConnell was faster at 1:52.40.
In the 400 meters, junior Brandon Wolliston of Remus, Michigan (Chippewa Hills) placed fourth at 49.70 seconds.
Freshman Jake Babb of Caledonia, Michigan (Caledonia) took fourth in both the shot put at 14.00 meters (45 feet, 10 inches) and the discus at 42.75 meters (140-3). Sophomore Tyler Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville) was ninth in the shot put at 13.10 meters (42-11).
Hope's 4x800 relay came in sixth. Sophomore Prescott Binder of Zeeland, Michigan (East), freshman Joseph Dawson of Richland, Michigan (Gull Lake), sophomore Ian Demrose of Macomb, Michigan (Dakota) and freshman Ty Hergenreder of Davison, Michigan (Goodrich) posted a time of 8:39.81.
The Flying Dutchmen totaled 12 points for 12th place. NCAA Division II Shorter won with 151 points.
Senior William Henkel of Lambertville, Michigan (Erie-Mason) took seventh in the high jump at 1.79 meters (5-9).
Hope's 4x400 relay finished eighth. Wolliston, Salomon, sophomore Tucker Gibbons of Fowlerville, Michigan (Fowlerville) and freshman Joshua Izenbart of Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor) went 3:24.27.
The Flying Dutchmen's 4x100 relay was 10th. Sophomore Justin Freeman of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa), Izenbart, freshman Adam Howard of Jacksonville, Illinois (Routt Catholic) and Wolliston went 42.98.
Hope's next meet is Friday, March 31 with visiting Calvin at Buys Athletic Fields.
