Ferris State Reaches Three NCAA Qualifying Marks In Final Tune-Up For League Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams had their final tune-up for the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships over the weekend as the Bulldogs competed in the GVSU Tune-Up meet at the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale.

FSU's Molly Emerick won the 800 meters and reached the NCAA Division II National Provisional qualification time with a clocking of 2:13.39 overall.

Ferris State's Emily Haynes placed second in the 3,000 meters (10:05.22) with Kathryn Etelamaki fourth (10:21.73) and Racheal McDonald fifth (10:26.92).

The Bulldogs' Sarah Utchel came in second overall in the 200 meters (25.90) along with third overall in the 60 meters (7.93). Teammate Dominique Artist placed seventh in the 60-meter event (8.29) with Nicole Snyder 10th in the 200 meters (27.19).

Raven Blaser came in seventh in the high jump (15-11.75), Hannh Price was eighth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.72), Natalie Perry placed ninth in the mile run (5:10.76) and Lindsay Christensen ninth in the 3,000 meters (11:23.10).

FSU's 4x400-meter relay team of Emerick, Jennifer Eaton, Perry and Larissa Medich took fourth place (4:23.98).

On the men's side, Jon Cok won the high jump and topped the NCAA Division II qualifying standard with a performance of 6-10.75. He was also fifth in the triple jump (42-8).

Ja'Juan Pollock earned runner-up honors in the 60 meters (7.15) with Hayden Francisco sixth (7.34).

The Bulldogs' Logan Hammer was third in the mile run (4:15.97) with Roah Fahey coming in seventh in the 3,000 meters (8:57.18). Cody Stillwell captured fifth place in the weight throw and reached an NCAA qualifying mark with a toss of 56-10.25. Francisco placed sixth in the same event (55-5).

Chris Triffo placed eighth in the 400 meters (52.01) with Lucas Harris ninth in the same event (52.67) and also 10th in the 200 meters (23.38). Meanwhile, Ross Miller was eighth in the shot put (47-1.75) and Brett Allpow took 10th place (46-4). Allpow was also 10th in the weight throw (51-8.50).

Ferris State's 4x400-meter relay team of Nate Meyer, Hunter Redman, Harris and Triffo took fourth place (3:29.33) with a second tandem of John Alberts, Hammer, Ethan Israels and Fahey coming in sixth (3:44.52).

The GLIAC Indoor Championships are set for Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25-26, in Findlay, Ohio.
