Cornerstone U - Racewalk and 4x800 highlight Saturday finishes for T&F

BLOOMINGTON/GOSHEN, Ind. – The Cornerstone track & field teams completed a standout weekend with more strong performances on Saturday at Goshen College and Indiana University. Both 4x800 teams qualified for nationals at IU while CU put up four individual qualifiers at Goshen.
Indiana University – Gladstein Invitational
After Colin DeYoung hit another national mark on Friday night in the mile run with a time of 4:13.56, the freshman teamed up with sophomore Joey DeBoer and juniors Kevin Vroegh and Zach Feldpausch to not only hit an auto standard in the 4x800, but the quartet also set a new school record with a final time of 7:46.01. That mark beat the previous record set in 2006 (7:48.33).
The women's 4x800 also hit a national qualifying standard as seniors Audrey Tremaine and Cathy Coryell joined junior Ally Rabe and sophomore Valerie Richter to finish in 9:35.17.
Goshen College – Doug Yoder Racewalk
Cornerstone, which boasts one of the strongest Racewalk programs in the NAIA, had a strong showing in their first event of the season.
Two automatic marks were hit by Sam Elmi (13:54.40) and Bailey Brogan (15:54.39) while Jason Rabie (14:38.11) and Jessie Langmeyer (16:55.69) hit provisional marks.
In total, 15 different Cornerstone athletes qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championships which will be held in Johnson City, Tenn. in early March.
