ANN ARBOR -- Ann Arbor Pioneer girls cross country runner Anne Forsyth did a whole lot of winning in 2016.

The junior won every race she competed in this season except for three, including the Division 1 state final, in which she finished second. Forsyth won regional and SEC Red titles, and her time of 17:35.0 at the state final was a 44-second improvement from her time at that 2015 state meet, in which she finished 13th.

Forsyth was the 2014 Ann Arbor News girls Cross Country Runner of the Year, and after an even more impressive season this year, she has been named the Ann Arbor News girls Cross Country Runner of the Year once again.

“She just had a fantastic year,” Pioneer coach Nancy Boudreau said. “She has gained confidence with every race. It’s a complete turnaround from last year. She was very good the last two years, but this year she started to run with confidence and knew she can hang with anyone in the race.”
