Siena Cross Country competed in the ECAC/IC4A to complete their cross country season. The women finished 10th in the 5K out of 18, while the men were fifth out of 19 in the 8K.
“The men ended their season on a nice upswing after a disappointing day at the NCAA Regionals,” said head coach John Kenworthy. “We were in the mix and had some guys really step up.”
Evans Kibet finished 13th overall to lead the Saints on the men’s side. Kibet finished in 26:10. Nick Cornine was not too far behind with his 21st place finish as he came through the chute at 26:35. Freshman Michael Rautter, was the third Saint to finish in under 27 minutes as he finished in 26:54.
Paolo Fiore finished at 27:00, while Andrew Canavan followed right behind with a 27:05 time. Siena finished with 143 points, just 31 points behind fourth-placed Marist.
“I think the women’s performance as a whole was solid,” stated Kenworthy. “We had a group of ‘good but not great’ type of days and we had a team performance we can stand by.”
Sarah Forman finished 7th overall with her 18:54 finish. Shannon Bauer and Kelly Pasko finished one after the other at the 19:40 mark.
Freshman Anya Schmitt and junior Dominica Bleichert followed in Bauer and Pasko’s footsteps as they went one after the other. Schmitt finished in 20:13, while Bleichert came through in 20:15.
