MSU - Spartans Have Successful Outing at EMU Fall Classic

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State men and women’s cross country teams had a solid outing in their final regular-season race Friday afternoon at the Eastern Michigan University Fall Classic at Hudson Mills Metro Park in Dexter, Michigan. Both the men’s and women’s races were a 5,000 meter run.
In their final appearance before the Big Ten Championships, the No. 27-ranked MSU women’s team garnered five top-15 finishes. Senior leadership was shown by Aubrey Wilberding who led the Spartans with a second place finish, crossing the finish line at 17:38.9.
In their first time out this season, sophomore Kennedy Beazley and redshirt freshman Annie Fuller rounded out the top-10 with fifth and seventh place finishes, respectively. Beazley finished with a time of 17:55.6, while Fuller crossed the line at 18:06.7.
On the men’s side, Michigan State was led by junior Brian Kettle who nabbed a third place finish. Kettle led the Spartan pack on a finishing time of 15:24.0.
Three other men finished in the top-30 this afternoon including redshirt junior Andrew Middelton, redshirt senior Ryan Beyea, and redshirt freshman Winter Romeyn. Middleton took a 19th finish on a time of 15:56.4, Beyea was seconds behind Middleton and tallied a time of 15:58.4, and Romeyn crossed the line at 16:01.6.
Michigan State will now switch gears in preparation for the Big Ten Championships that will take place, Sunday, Oct. 30. The race will take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota on the Les Bolstad Golf Course, a course the Spartans have already raced on earlier this year at the Roy Griak Invitational. The women are set to start the Big Tens at 12 p.m. ET, and the men are to follow.
