GVSU - Zach Panning and Kendra Foley Named GLIAC Athletes of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich. – Grand Valley State cross country runners Zach Panning and Kendra Foley were named the GLIAC men's and women's cross country Athletes of the Week on Tuesday after both runners placed first at the Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State over the weekend.
For Panning, this is the second time in his career that he has received GLIAC Men's Athlete of the Week honors with the previous award being in week six of 2015. Panning took first at the Spartan Invite with a time of 24:43, finishing 16 seconds ahead of the second-place runner and fellow Laker Chris May.
Foley was named the GLIAC Women's Athlete of the Week after posting a time of 20:54 and finishing first at the Spartan Invite. Foley edged out MSU's Rachel Schulist at the finish line and grabbed first place in her opening race.
The first-ranked women and second-ranked men will not compete this weekend, but return to action on October 1 at the Greater Louisville Classic.
