DU - Track & Field Takes On Al Owens Classic

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The DU track and field team competed at the Al Owens Classic over the weekend at Grand Valley State University.
Day one of the two day meet saw Tyler Miller notch an eighth place finish in the javelin throw on a 46.31m effort. The Panthers then notched two top ten finishes in the triple jump for the men. Drake Boomer took third place on a jump of 13.81m while Mike Carey finished sixth on a jump of 13.16 meters.
Day two saw Dustin Brummel take third place in the 5000 meter run on a time of 15:20.34. Brittany Parker notched a 12th place finish in the 400m dash on a time of 1:06.99. The throws saw Amy Overway place 17th on a throw of 11.13 meters in the shot put while Alexander Lake placed 16th on a 43.40m thrown in the discus. The jumps were highlighted by Drake Boomer as placed fifth in the long jump on a 6.99m effort. Mallory Bont placed sixth in the long jump for the women on a jump of 5.37 meters. The high jump for the women was highlighted by three top ten finishes as Tessa Gryzen (1.62m) placed fifth, Emily Michalski took eighth (1.57m), and Britta Ebels took 10th (1.52m). Dan Boivin placed seventh in the pole vault on a 4.46m finish.
