Eight runners. Two batons. Two first places.

Such was the weekend for the two relay teams from the Hillsdale College men's track team, who competed with some tough competition at the two-day GVSU Big Meet, hosted by Grand Valley State University.

On Friday night, the foursome of Lane White, Ty Etchemendy, Noah Hiser and Colby Clark took first place in the 4x400 relay with a school-record time of 3:14.11.

Saturday, it was Caleb Gatchell, David Chase, Tanner Schwannke and Anthony Wondall's turn, as they won the distance medley relay in 9:58.45, a time just two seconds off the school record.

Another school record was set, and it's one that keeps getting broken. Senior Todd Frickey broke the school mark in the 60 meter dash for the third time this season, clocking a time of 6.88 seconds to finish sixth in Friday's final. The record was last set just a week ago when newcomer Sergio San Jose Lorza ran a 6.89.

Matthew Harris achieved a personal best in the pole vault, taking third with an NCAA provo height of 4.85 meters.
