EMU Women - Eagles Continue 2016 Season on the Road at Grand Valley

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team continues their 2016 season on the road at the Eubanks Open Friday, Jan. 15, in Allendale, Mich. This marks the second consecutive meet for the Eagles in Allendale, as they opened their season at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open, Dec. 4.
The Eagles had a strong start to the season, taking home the team title at the Holiday Open with 133.5 points. The highlight of the day came when junior Alsu Bogdanova (Kazan, Russia - Lyceum #83) blazed through the 5,000m and turned in the fastest time in program history. Bogdanova clocked in at 16:24.72, which was nearly three seconds quicker than the previous record set by sophomore Jordann McDermitt (Davison, Mich. - Davison) last season. For her performance, Bogdanova was honored as the Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week.
Senior Ellie Braidic (Pandora, Ohio - Pandora-Gilboa) also etched her name into the EMU record books, as she cleared a mark of 3.90 meters/12 feet 9.5 inches in the pole vault, which was good for seventh-best in program history. Additionally, freshman Jada Taylor (Neptune, N.J. - Neptune) began her Eagle career with a bang, notching a distance of 14.83 meters/48 feet 8 inches in the weight throw and moving up to sixth all-time in the EMU program.
Friday's meet will begin at 10:15 a.m. with the women's multis events. Following this, the running events are scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m., while the field events will start at 3:30 p.m.
