YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team continues their 2016 season on the road at the Eubanks Open Friday, Jan. 15, in Allendale, Mich. This marks the second consecutive meet for the Eagles in Allendale, as they opened their season at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open, Dec. 4.

The Eagles had a strong start to the season, taking home the team title at the Holiday Open with 133.5 points. The highlight of the day came when junior Alsu Bogdanova (Kazan, Russia - Lyceum #83) blazed through the 5,000m and turned in the fastest time in program history. Senior Ellie Braidic (Pandora, Ohio - Pandora-Gilboa) also etched her name into the EMU record books, as she cleared a mark of 3.90 meters/12 feet 9.5 inches in the pole vault, which was good for seventh-best in program history. Additionally, freshman Jada Taylor (Neptune, N.J. - Neptune) began her Eagle career with a bang, notching a distance of 14.83 meters/48 feet 8 inches in the weight throw and moving up to sixth all-time in the EMU program.
