Team USA looks to defend title at Great Edinburgh XCountry International Challenge

EDINBURGH, Scotland -- After a dominant team performance in 2015, Team USA is primed and ready to take on Team Europe and Team Great Britain at the 2016 Great Edinburgh XCountry International Challenge on Saturday, January 9. The event airs live beginning at 8 a.m. EST on USATF.tv.
Team USA left its mark on Holyrood Park in 2015, as the U.S. dominated the overall team competition and took home three of four team titles. Team USA scored 121 points on the day, with Team Europe scoring 189 and Team Great Britain registering 223. Four Americans won individual titles out of six races.
Team USA put together a total team effort in the junior men’s race in 2015, scoring a meet-low 14 points, while four top-10 finishes sealed the junior women’s team victory.
For the senior men in 2016, there will be a new individual champion as two-time defending champion Chris Derrick is focusing on training for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon. Garrett Heath, two-time champion in the individual 4 km in Edinburgh, will lead the U.S. men against strong teams from Great Britain and Europe, including Team GB’s Mo Farah.
Returning from the 2015 team are Emma Bates and Rochelle Kanuho for the senior women and Riley Masters in the mixed relay.
