CMU - 10 Firsts for CMU at Holiday Classic

UNIVERSITY CENTER - Central Michigan student-athletes won 10 events Friday as the Chippewas opened the indoor track and field season at the Saginaw Valley State Holiday Classic at the SVSU Fieldhouse.

For the CMU women, Kelly Schubert won the 5,000-meter run in 16 minutes, 57.88 seconds, leading a top-four sweep by CMU. The Chippewas' Kristen Olling was second, Samantha Allmacher was third, and Megan O'Neil placed fourth.

Also for the CMU women, DeJanae Terry won the 60-meter dash in 7.68 seconds; Gabriella Beauvais was first in the 200-meter dash, 25.18; Rebekah Petty won the pole vault at 11 feet, 11 ¼ inches; and Devene Brown captured the shot put, 49-11 ¼.

For the CMU men, Nate Ghena won the 5,000 in 14:28.12; Shane Moffo captured the 60-meter hurdles in 8.20 seconds; Jamar Hardy was first in the 60-meter dash in 6.92 seconds; Dylan Banagis won the weight throw at 64-1 ¾; and Kevin Weiler captured the shot put, 58-9 ½.
