EMU Men - Day Two of NCAA East Regional in the Books

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (EMUEagles.com)--Eastern Michigan University's men's track and field team had three athletes competing on the second day of the NCAA East Regional, May 29.
Starting out the day for the Eagles was Ryan Brumfield (Chester Springs, Pa.-Owen J. Robert) in the high jump. The senior just missed out on qualifying to Eugene for the NCAA Championships with a 15th-place finish that tied his personal record of 2.09 meters/6 feet 10.25-inches.
In the quarterfinals of the 400m, Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio-Findlay) was unable to nab one of the coveted qualifying spots, finishing eighth in his heat in 47.57 seconds for a 23rd-place overall finish.
Another close mark came to Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio-Maumee) in the 3000m steeplechase, as the sophomore competed in the fastest heat to finish sixth in the heat and 16th overall. Fink was able to shave six seconds off his personal best, clocking in at 8:47.17 to crack EMU's all-time top-10 list and take over the spot for the sixth-fastest harrier in the event. Additionally, Fink's time is the fastest by an Eagle since the 2007 campaign.
The NCAA East Regional will wrap up tomorrow, May 30, beginning with the shot put at 5 p.m. The 4x100m relay will follow at 6 p.m., with the triple jump at 7 p.m. and the 5000m run at 8:05 p.m. A late running of the 4x400m relay at 9:45 p.m. will wrap up action for the Green and White.
