ROCHESTER, Mich. (4/11/2015) -- Senior Colin Cashner and freshman Ben Kendell each broke school records Saturday as the University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team competed at three different meets -- two of them in the state of Michigan. The majority of the squad headed back to Oakland University for the second straight week to compete in the Golden Grizzly Duals.

Kendell was the lone men's representative at the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell University, while the throwing contingency, including Cashner, was at Northwood University in Midland, Mich. for the Northwood Open.

Kendell made his collegiate debut in the 10,000 meter run and didn't disappoint, setting a school record in the event by more than 26 seconds. He finished fourth out of 39 runners in the event with a time of 30:06.29. He broke Chris McPhee's school record of 30:33.13 that was set back in 2000.

One week after breaking the Titan Stadium facility record in the hammer throw, senior thrower Colin Cashner broke the school record in the event to win the hammer at the Northwood Open. His best throw reached 63.15 meters (207' 2") as he topped senior teammate Eric Lewis' school record of 62.38 meters.

Lewis finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 45.86 meters (150' 5"), while junior Jake Millyard earned a throw of 40.63 meters (133' 4").

The Titans finished 3-2 in the head-to-head dual scoring format at the Golden Grizzly Duals. Detroit earned victories against Horizon League foe Valparaiso, IPFW and Siena Heights, despite missing several key components from the team to other meets.

Sophomore Ilia Panev won the 400 meter hurdles out of five competitors with a time of 55.35. Panev also placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles, earning a time of 15.55 in the preliminaries and then improving to 15.50 in the finals.

Junior Austin Wigent was third in the 1,500 meter run (4:05.56), junior Joshua Carolin placed sixth in the event (4:11.25) and freshman Max Rogowski crossed in a time of 4:24.08.

Seniors George Holman and Ylli Alla, and freshman Miles Kelleher all ran in the 5,000 meter run for UDM. Holman placed seventh in 16:19.73. Alla crossed in 16:38.81, while Kelleher finished in 16:51.76.

Sophomore Zach Sand ran in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes for the Titans, finishing with times of 11.98 and 24.27, respectively. Sand also competed in the long jump for Detroit and had a best leap of 5.53 meters. Freshman Zach Arnold competed in the 400 meter dash and finished in a time of 50.67 to place seventh.

Junior Colton Wirgau was eighth in the 800 meter run, making his collegiate debut in the event with a time of 1:59.93. Detroit was third in the 4x400 meter relay. The quartet of Arnold, Carolin, Panev and Wirgau crossed in a time of 3:28.02.
