GVSU - Lakers Move into USTFCCCA Outdoor Rankings

NEW ORLEANS – After starting the season unranked in both the men and women polls, the Grand Valley State men's and women's track & field teams find themselves ranked fourth and 20th, respectively, in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Outdoor rankings, released Tuesday afternoon.
The Laker men, who placed second at the NCAA Division II National Championships three weeks ago, receive 128.11 points to rank fourth behind Texas A&M-Commerce at No. 3 and ahead of Angelo State at No. 5, while the women jump into the polls at No. 20 with 54.63 points to place ahead of Pittsburg State at No. 21 and behind Northwest Missouri at No. 19.
Chico State, the preseason No. 1 men's team, retains their top ranking with 140.84 points, while women's indoor national champions Central Missouri jumps up 14 spots to take the No. 1 ranking with 142.62 points. Along with Grand Valley State, Minnesota State-Mankato made the largest improvement in this week's men's rankings, jumping 71 spots to rank second with 132.43 points, while Colorado Mesa improved 81 spots to rank 25th with 46.38 points.
Joining GVSU in the Top 25 from the GLIAC on the men's side is Ashland (88.61 points) at No. 12 and Hillsdale (52.29 points) at No. 25, while Hillsdale (68.44) at No. 12 joins the Laker women in the Top 25.
