GVSU Competes in First Day of Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. - In the first day of the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University, the group of Lakers that made the trip down to the Tar Heel State performed exceptionally well.
For the men, five runners competed on the day, while one runner and one jumper competed for the Laker women. Wuoi Mach recorded a top five finish in the 1,500 meter with a time of 3:49.82, while Ricky Perez finished with a time of 3:53.54 to finish 27th, and Ethan Barnestook 48th with a time of 3:56.47.
In the 5,000 meter, GVSU had Brady Selner and Nate Orndorf running. Selner placed 63rd with a time of 14:47.20, and Orndorf finished 71st with a time of 14:53.45. Sean Wells was the final Laker runner of the day, placing second in the 110 meter hurdle preliminary with a time of 14.42. Wells will compete in the hurdles final on Saturday at 12:05 p.m.
On the women's side, Alisha Weaver took third place in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters, and Amy Cymerman took 11th in the 10,000 meter with a time of 35:00.94
