RALEIGH, N.C. (EMUEagles.com)—Eastern Michigan University's men's track and field team wrapped up the second day of the Raleigh Relays, March 28, notching 10 top-10 finishes throughout 10 events in the outdoor season opener.

Competing in the triple jump for the first time since taking silver at the 2015 NCAA Indoor National Championships, March 14, Donald Scott (Apopka, Fla.-Apopka) continued to impress by breaking his own EMU record to win the triple jump at the meet. Scott also tied the Raleigh Relays record set in 1996 by Warren Posey, bounding 16.38 meters/53 feet 9-inches. Scott won by a margin of more than three and a half feet over the G.W. Express/Nike-represented Dejon Wilkinson.

Two more top-10 finishes came to the Eagles on the field. In the pole vault, Dylan Stites (Huntsville, Ohio-Indian Lake) was not far off his career high at 4.70 meters/15 feet 5-inches to place ninth, while Levi Selvig (Flushing, Mich.-Flushing Community) set an outdoor career record at 4.55 meters/14 feet 11-inches. In the javelin throw, Solomon Ijah (Murrieta, Calif.-Murrieta Valley) paced the Green and White with a throw of 54.32 meters/178 feet 2-inches, and newcomer Sean Ward (Clarkston, Mont.-Billings Central) made his collegiate debut with a launch of 46.20 meters/151 feet 7-inches to place 24th.

Another Eagle made his first appearance of the 2014-15 campaign on the field, as Elijah Albert-Grayer (Canton, Mich.-Salem) notched a mark of 46.55 meters/152 feet 8-inches in the javelin throw to finish 33rd overall. Right behind Albert-Grayer was Andrew Wentz (Napoleon, Ohio-Napoleon), who threw 45.64 meters/149 feet 9-inches.

On the track, the majority of the action took place in relay form. Individually, Kevin Snead (Richmond, Va.-George Wythe (Pima CC)) built off his time yesterday to shave nearly three-tenths of a second and finish fourth in the final heat in 10.59 seconds. In the 400m hurdles, returning NCAA Regional qualifier Jeff Elam (Latrobe, Pa.-Greater Latrobe Senior) finished third in 52.82 seconds, while Bryce Lindsey (New Middletown, Ohio-Fairfield Senior) had a top-40 finish in 57.32 seconds.

The Eagles had two winning relay teams as well as two runner-up lineups during the day. In the first event of the day, the team of Scott Bradley (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview), Mitch Lenneman (River Falls, Wis.-River Falls), Nick Raymond (Erie, Mich.-Mason), and Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio-Maumee) won the 4x1500m relay by a considerable margin of 15:57.04. The quartet shattered a reign of dominance by Duke University, who had won the event at the Raleigh Relays for a consecutive six years. The Eagles were the only athletes to finish in less than 16 minutes, while the Blue Devils crossed the line in 16:03.89.

The Green and White also won the 4x400m relay to end the day, winning by more than two seconds in 3:12.05 behind the lineup of Elam, Cameron Bolton (Missouri City, Texas-HIghtower), Matthew Williams (Moreno Valley, Calif.-Vista del Lago), and Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio-Findlay). The 4x100m relay by Bolton, Brown, Williams, and Snead was a close race between Eastern and the Akron Zips, but the Mid-American Conference foe held the upper hand by three-hundredths of a second as the Eagles clocked in at 40.91 seconds. In the 4x200m relay, Bolton, Brown, Williams, and Brandon Boldon (Solon, Ohio-Solon) also notched a second-place finish behind St. Augustine's in 1:26.22.

Eastern will remain in-state for their next meet, traveling to East Lansing, Mich. to take on the field at the MSU Spartan Invitational, Friday and Saturday, April 3-4.
