HILLSDALE, Mich. - Aaron Davis won his fifth event of the season with a 60 meter dash time of 6.92 to lead the Oakland track and field team at the Hillsdale Tune-Up on Saturday inside the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center. Candice Mack finished second in the 400m with a personal record time of 58.09 while Megan Simientowski notched a nine foot, seven inch second place pole vault distance.
"For the small group we had at this meet, we had some real nice performances," said head coach Paul Rice. "Aaron Davis continued on his roll and his winning time puts him tied for the number one spot in the league going into the Horizon League Championships. Candice also set a PR in the 400 and just missed the school record. Kendall ran a nice PR in the 60 prelims. Sarah made some real nice progress in the hurdle prelims and she is getting stronger each week coming off her injury from January. We are again showing we are right where we need to be going into championship week and it's time for our entire group to tune up, rest and get mentally ready for a big week."
Kendell Jefferson posted a PR of 7.85 to finish first in the prelims of the 60m while Sarah Moen also set a PR in the 60m hurdle prelims with a time of 9.24.
Matthew Jordan was solid in two events finishing third in the triple jump (42 ft., 2.00 in.) and fourth in the long jump (19 ft, 11.75 in.). Tyler Sirut also placed sixth in both the shot put (41 ft., 5.00 in.) and weight throw (40 ft., 2.25 in.).
The Golden Grizzlies head to Youngstown, Ohio for the 2015 Horizon League Indoor Championships held February 28 - March 1.
