NMU - Wildcats Begin Action at GVSU Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Northern Michigan University freshman Kameron Burmeister again broke her school record in the 5K during the first day of competition at the GVSU Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State Friday.
"We had some great performances today," said NMU head coach Jenny Ryan. "All six athletes that competed today gained some great high-level experience against many top athletes from across the country."
Burmeister clocked a 17:26.63 which was good for 14th place and was an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark. Senior Olivia Howard also ran a PR in the event clocking a time of 17:54.85 to finish in 41st place.
Senior Brittni Wirtz finished 10th overall in the 60 meter dash, while junior Avadon James had a season best finishing in 16th with a time of 7.90. James also had a season best in the 200 clocking a 26.23 finishing in 30th place.
Senior Larissa Halonen clocked a PR of 5:05.13 in the mile run, finishing in 25th place.
The Wildcats continue action at the GVSU Big Meet on Saturday.
