Livingston sets new LSSU weight throw record

ALLENDALE – Lake Superior State junior Nolin Livingston set a new school record of 17.29 meters in the men’s weight throw to highlight the Lakers’ performances at The Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State on Friday and Saturday.
Livingston bettered the old mark of 17.18 meters set in 2005. He placed sixth overall in the event and qualified provisionally for the NCAA Championships. Teammate Josh Meyers was 15th overall with a distance of 14.74 meters.
LSSU’s Oshane Thomas placed first in Flight 2 and third overall in the men’s 200-meter dash with a time of :21.89. He was fourth in Flight 2 and seventh overall in the 400-meter dash in :49.68. Adam Birkeland paced the distance crew with a fourth-place finish in Flight 2 (13th overall) in the men’s 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:44.41.
Also for the LSSU men, Anthony Silva was seventh in Flight 4 of the mile run (4:40.95), and Spencer Montcastle was sixth in Flight 2 of the long jump (6.05 meters).
For the LSSU women, Carolinne Strasser placed fourth in Flight 1 of the triple jump (9.97 meters) and fourth in Flight 2 of the long jump (5.10 meters). Competing in the same flights, Sarah Swider was eighth in the long jump (4.76 meters), and Rebecka Knox was ninth in the triple jump (9.46 meters).
Jasmine Mata placed fourth in Flight 4 of the 200-meter dash (:27.17). Morgan Sawgle finished 19th in Flight 2 of the 3,000-meter run (11:26.99), while McKenzie Richardson was 21st (11:35.46). Jessica Allen finished sixth in Flight 3 (11:22.87), and Hannah Passino took eighth (11:41.82).
