Hillsdale - Hannah McIntyre Named GLIAC Freshman of the year as Charger Women Finish 2nd

The Hillsdale College women's cross country team entered Saturday's GLIAC championship meet ranked sixth in the nation and second in the Midwest Region. The Chargers did not disappoint.
The Chargers turned in their best finish at the conference meet in 15 years, finishing second overall with 61 points, only trailing No. 1-ranked Grand Valley State. The 61 points scored by Hillsdale are the best by a second-place team at the GLIAC championships since 2002.
Junior Emily Oren, who was named the National Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Oct. 27 following her sub-21 minute finish on Oct. 25, took fifth with a time of 20:52.4 to lead the team.
Junior Kristina Galat followed on Oren's heels, taking sixth with at time of 20:53.6, her best of the season. Freshman Hannah McIntyre followed behind her junior teammates and took seventh with a time of 21:02.8, another season-best time.
For her efforts, McIntyre became the first Charger female in school history to be named the GLIAC Women's Cross Country Freshman of the Year.
Sophomore Molly Oren finished with a time of 21:37.1 and senior Chelsea Kilgore had a 21:44.9. Junior Kathryn Royer followed with a time of 21:47.5.
The Chargers will compete at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Meet at Evansville, IN on Nov. 22.
