LSSU Men's and women's teams place among the top four at Muskegon Invitational

MUSKEGON - The Lake Superior State women's cross country team placed third among 11 teams, and the Laker men's team finished fourth among 14 teams at the Muskegon Community College Invitational held Friday.
McKenzie Richardson placed 17th (21st overall) in 19:38.92 to lead the Laker women. Morgan Sawgle was 25th overall in 19:52.72, and was followed by Jessica Allen, who finished 35th in 20:14.42. Hannah Passino (20:24.07) was 41st, and followed by Rachel Peabody (21:20.19), who was 70th.
Lansing Community College's Kayla Kraft won the women's race in 18:24.61. LCC also won the team event.
Grand Valley State took the top two individual spots and dominated the men's team event, but Lake Superior State's Adam Birkeland broke up the GVSU sweep by finishing third in 25:45.39. He was sixth overall, as unattached runners claimed three of the top five men's spots.
LSSU's Ryan Rogers was 24th overall in 26:32.35, and Cole Rieboldt was 38th in 27:02.09. The Lakers' top five also included Anthony Silva, who was 51st in 27:36.10, and Hunter Kilpatrick, who was 55th in 27:40.76.
