UDM - Titan Harriers In Action On Saturday At Louisville

DETROIT (10/2/2014) -- With an extra week of training under its belt, the University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action as the Titans take part in the 13th Annual Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday.
The day features a number of races from high school to collegiate at E.P Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
The men's team will run in the 8k Gold Race that starts at 9:30 a.m., while the women will take part in the 5k Blue Race at 11:30 a.m.
Over 30 teams will be in the men's race, including No. 11 Wisconsin and No. 23 Eastern Kentucky we well as regionally-ranked teams in Clemson, Georgia, Illinois, Lipscomb, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Missouri, Ohio State and Tennessee
This is the eighth-straight year that the Titans will run in the race and the fifth time it will compete in the Gold. The best finish by the Titans was sixth in 2010, while the best run and time was set by Pat Liederbach as he claimed fourth in 2010 as well as posting a 24:54 for 41st in the Gold in 2008.
The women's race will have 42 teams competing, including Belmont, Evansville, Florida Gulf Coast, Liberty, Marshall, Mercer and Radford.
The women have also taken part in the event the last seven years with their best effort placing fourth in 2007. Louisa Coppola owns the best time and finish as an individual taking third last season in 18:03.
Detroit last competed in the National Catholic Championships on Sept. 19 as the men were sixth and the women 10th. Freshman Ben Kendell led UDM for the second-straight week en route to his second HL Runner of the Week accolade of the year, while senior Zeinab Baydoun was the top Titan for the third-straight race.
