OU - OAKLAND TRAVELS TO 59TH ANNUAL NOTRE DAME INVITATIONAL

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland men’s and women’s cross country teams head to Notre Dame, Ind. to compete in the 59th Annual Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Oct. 3. The meet will be held on the Notre Dame Golf Course with the Women's Gold 5K starting at 2 p.m. and the Men's Gold 5 mile race to follow at 2:45 p.m.
The last time out, Ashley Burr won the women's 5K title with a time of 18:20.2 at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Midwest Open (Sept. 13) helping the women's team place second with four runners in the top-15. Nathan Ziolko and Andrew Bowman finished third and fourth in the men's 8K with times of 25:26.0 and 25:30.1, respectively, leading the men's team to a third place finish.
Last season at the ND Invitational, the men’s team finished ninth overall led by Bowman who finished 20th in the Men's Gold 8K with a time of 26:04.9 followed by Jacob Bowman who placed 44th at 26:36.6. Sammy Mondry finished 24th in the Women's Gold 5K with a time of 18:21.9 helping the women’s team finish 11th overall.
Andrew Bowman, along with Austin McLean from Youngstown State, was named Horizon League Co-Runner of the Week for the week of Aug. 25 - Sept. 1. Bowman won the Golden Grizzly Open capturing the men's 6K title with a time of 18:40.9 helping Oakland claim the team title defeating Detroit 27-29.
Burr was also named Horizon League Runner of the Week finishing the women's 4K with a time of 14:40.2 to lead Oakland’s women's team to a first-place finish over Detroit 20 - 41 at the Golden Grizzly Open.
