The Hillsdale College women's cross country team started a much-anticipated season at the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing Friday afternoon.
No team scores were kept, but the Chargers, ranked 8th in the nation in Division II, made a competitive showing in a race filled with Division I talent.
Starting the season with a strong start was junior Kristina Galat, who finished 18th in the race. She posted at time of 22:08. Following closely after was junior Emily Oren, who finished with a time of 22:32.

In her freshman debut, Hannah McIntyre finished 33rd with a time of 22:43. Freshmen Madeline Richards and Andrea Bodary finished their first collegiate meet with times of 24:29 and 24:33 respectively.
Sophomore Molly Oren posted a time of 23:08 and junior Kathryn Royer finished with a time of 23:12.
The team will continue their season October 3 at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Indiana at 2:00 p.m.
