New this year, â Cross Country Style,â 6 K Run, with 1 mile of trail and mostly dirt road, and certified today. -End of release- Background: This race almost never got off the ground back in 2001, as the founder had difficulty getting support and sponsors from the community and the Village and Township of Milford almost did not approve the race course. After some convincing the first 30K started as, â Bring your own water bottle and run 30K with Doug.â It had 50 starters and 49 finishers, but people loved the scenic course and the next year 2002 it became a part of the Michigan Runners, â Championship Race Series.â In recent years they have added a 10K Run or Walk and 30K Fat Tire Bike, along with the 30K Bikeâ 10K Run Challenge with participations being 700 to 900 with 100â s of volunteers. The Huron Valley Athletic Club, meets Tuesday night at 6 PM for runs, and was major contributor to the Village of Milford popular â Hike/Bikeâ trail. Proceeds from this year race will benefit: Milford Cross Country Team, Hot Team and Dive Teams just to name a few.
