YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (5/4/2014) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's outdoor track and field team claimed second place at the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Youngstown, Ohio as the final day wrapped up on Sunday.
The women's team was in fourth place with 29 points after day two and ended the competition as the runner-up with 116 points. It is the second straight runner-up finish for Detroit after the women also were second at the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships back in March.
The team reached second place adding 87 points to its total score.
"The meet went better than expected for us," said UDM Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Guy Murray. "We had some question marks turn into exclamation points and just had a great team effort. Everyone did their jobs and covered their bases."
