Hillsdale College - Emily Oren is an All-American!
Provided by Hillsdale
The long tradition of excellence with the Hillsdale College women's track program had another chapter written in it Saturday.
Sophomore Emily Oren became the Chargers' latest All-American when she finished in fifth place in the mile run at the 2014 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina.
Oren ran the mile in 4:55.54. She is Hillsdale's second All-American in the mile in the past three years, joining school record-holder and former national champion Amanda Putt in 2012.
Two weeks ago, Oren was crowned GLIAC champion in the mile, and is on course to have a highly decorated career. This marks her best-ever finish in a national-level meet.
Four of the eight All-Americans in this event were sophomores and the national champion, Samantha Rivard from Minnesota-Duluth, is a freshman. It appears to be a group that could become quite familiar with itself in national championship races in the future.
No other Charger placed in the top eight in an event at the meet. Full results can be found at the top of this story.
