MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Renaldo Powell of the Central Michigan track and field team is not quite done with his indoor track and field season just yet as the senior sprinter will head to Albuquerque, N.M. for the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships March 14-15.

The two-time individual MAC Champion in the 60-meter hurdles clinched his spot in the NCAA Championships with a personal best, school record and Kent State Field House record at the 2014 MAC Indoor Championships with a first place finish in a time of 7.74. The senior’s mark is the 13th best in the country.

"We are very excited for Renaldo," director of track and field Mark Guthrie said. "Physically he is on the smaller side for a hurdler but he has a huge heart and has been committed since day one and that is how he has gotten where he is now."

Powell will be the lone Chipppewa from both the men and women’s squad representing the Maroon and Gold at this year’s championships.

Nine student athletes from around the Mid-American Conference will compete at the NCAA Championships including William Barnes from Kent State who is set to compete in the 60-meter hurdles as the 15th seed along with Powell.

On March 14 ESPN3 will stream the meet live starting at 7:55 p.m. ET and March 15 starting at 7:50 p.m. ET. A tape delay of the championship will air Saturday, March 22 beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET ESPNU.
