ALLENDALE, MICHIGAN -- Gazelle Sports and Adidas have added an exciting new event to this year's high school indoor track race calendar. In addition to the recent Elite Mile, a new race is ready to showcase some of Michigan's top prep talent.
The first Gazelle Sports Elite 3200 will take place January 31st at 6 pm at Grand Valley State University's Kelly Family Sports Center, during the Gazelle Sports Elite Meet. This invitation-only event will feature several of the state's best 3200 meter competitors.
Top runners scheduled to compete include Ben Hill of Royal Oak who comes into the meet with a top seeded time of 9:06. Top runner for the girls are Audrey Belf of Birmingham and Kirsten Olling of Breckenridge. Both had outstanding 2013 high school seasons in both track and cross country. Belf enters the meet with a seed time of 10:38 and Olling with 10:39.
"The last couple years I've watched a handful of really talented kids choose to run an open 3200 instead of the Elite Mile," said Kushion.
"After seeing the fast times at last year's outdoor state meets from every division, I knew the 3200 would make a great elite race indoors," Kushion added.
The Gazelle Sports Elite Meet takes place at Grand Valley State University's Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale. Cost is $10 for athletes, coaches and spectators.
